House of Keys sitting, no questions for me although one of the written questions revolving around Freedom of Information does involve DEFA as we were one of the first departments subject to Freedom of Information.
The main item of business was to consider clauses for the Equality Act 2016 in the event we managed 28 clauses so only 139 to go! Plus 24 schedules so a lot of work to do over the next few sittings.
Lunchtime Alzheimers presentation.
Afternoon DEFA business including radio interview with 3FM with regard to the latest successful prosecution of a fishing vessel in our territorial waters. The skipper of the Highland Queen breached licence conditions over two weeks in August and September 2016 during queen scallops season and was fined £26,000, which includes £13,000 for the value of the illegal catch. Hopefully this sends out the right signals that we are serious about enforcement within our territorial seas.
